This is a starting draft prepared to help get Aurora Sky moving. It is not a substitute for review by a qualified Australian lawyer and should be reviewed before the app is made available to the public.

Aurora Rangi Pty Ltd ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Aurora Sky collects, how it's used, and the choices you have. We aim to handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

1. What we collect

Account details: username, email address, password, and a colour you choose for your profile
Profile information you choose to add: a profile photo, and date of birth if you complete age verification
Content you create: messages you send, rooms you create or join, and any images or videos you choose to share
Usage information: which rooms you're active in, so the app can show accurate room activity to others

We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18, as Aurora Sky is an 18+ platform.

2. How we use it

We use your information to:

Create and run your account
Show your messages and profile to other users in the rooms you participate in
Review reports of content or behaviour that may breach our Community Guidelines
Keep the app safe, including identifying and acting on illegal or harmful content
Respond to you if you contact us

3. What's actually saved

Aurora Sky is designed around live conversation rather than a permanent record. Manaia conversations are not saved or transmitted anywhere — they exist only on your device for the duration of that session. Messages in other rooms are stored only as needed to operate the app and are not treated as a permanent public archive.

4. Who we share it with

We don't sell your personal information. We may share it:

With law enforcement or government authorities where required by law, or where we reasonably believe it's necessary to prevent harm to someone
With service providers who help us run the app, under obligations to protect your information
Where you've given clear consent for a specific purpose

5. Storage and security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no system is completely secure and we can't guarantee absolute security.

6. Your rights

You can access, correct, or delete most of your personal information directly within the app, including deleting your account entirely. You can also contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, or to make a complaint about how we've handled it.

7. Manaia and sensitive information

Manaia is designed for people who may be experiencing domestic or family violence. We treat anything shared there as sensitive. Manaia conversations aren't saved. Information about external support services shown in Manaia is sourced from public government resources and is provided for convenience only.

8. Data breaches

If a data breach occurs that is likely to result in serious harm, we'll notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner in line with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll aim to let you know of any material changes before they take effect.
